Managing Your Funded SBIR Grant

  You received your ‘Notice of Award’

So, what happens now?  SBMC can help but these are the basics:

Your funds for Budget Period 1 will be deposited into your bank account through automatic deposit

    • You must spend it all within the stipulated budget period
    • Do not spend it early – the government will not release funds for the following years until the budget period ends

At the end of each budget period except the last one, you will write an annual report of how you’ve spent the money and the outcomes you’ve achieved

  • At the end of the last budget period, you will write a final report
  • Oversight is minimal providing you remain within the guidelines of funding and what you’ve proposed – i.e., difference between a grant & contract
